Welcome to the Wiltshire Seniors website.
Hopefully these pages will enhance your enjoyment of the game and perhaps encourage some to branch out and experience different courses and competitions.
It is estimated that there are approximately 1500 senior golfers in Wiltshire actively playing golf. These players have handicaps that range between scratch and 28 and regularly compete in their club fourball, Inter club matches, Opens, County, National and International events.
It is recognised that the term 'senior' immediately brings to mind of some club members, PG Wodehouse and 'the wrecking crew' the group that took forever to play 18 holes with no thought for anyone else on the course.
This may be the attitude at some clubs but it doesn't have to be the case.
There are plenty of opportunities locally and further afield for seniors no matter what their handicaps.
Did you know that if you have a single figure handicap, the time, finance and inclination, you could play scratch competitions throughout the UK and Europe almost weekly.
Did you know that Wiltshire County Golf Union organise a Senior County team that play in the Channel League against the other counties of the South West and two from Wales which replicates the league played by the full 1st team. (Did you know that the Wiltshire 1st team were English County champions in both 2011 & 2012)?
This website will attempt to bring together all of this information for the benefit of all Wiltshire Seniors.
If you have any suggestions or comments then please complete the contact form on the 'Contact, Comment, Contribution' page.
